Prince of Wales, Pontefract
At the end of 2006 the Company applied for its first phase of development on the former Prince of Wales colliery site at Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
The scheme, now at an advanced stage of negotiation with the Local Authority and other stakeholders, will consist of in excess of 900 new, highly sustainable and environmentally sound homes, alongside in excess of 250,000 sq ft of employment development creating in excess of 1,000 jobs.
The Company has targeted a mid summer planning consent for the scheme followed by the installation and major infrastructure commencing at the end of 2007 with first phase development in association with residential partners of a mix of highest quality, affordable housing and general family housing becoming available in mid 2008.
There are opportunities to extend the development in future years, building on its superb sustainable location as an exemplar urban extension to the historic market town of Pontefract at the centre of the region’s Five Towns Regeneration Initiative.
