The UK has a Kyoto Protocol commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 12.5% below 1990 levels and a national goal to move towards a 20% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2010.
Emissions trading is one of the key policies being proposed by UK Government to help meet these targets. UK COAL supports the position taken by The Confederation of UK COAL Producers (COALPRO) on this issue.
