Plenmeller
Harworth Power has been assessing the suitability of the former surface mining at Plenmeller Common for a wind farm for a number of years. Activities to date have included consulting with the statutory bodies in order to agree the scope of an Environmental Impact Assessment to support any planning application for a wind farm.
Planning permission has been granted by Tynedale District Council for a wind data mast which has now been on the site since March 2007. Other activities on site have included detailed ornithological and ecological surveys on the site.
Subject to the results of the wind data collection exercise we intend to commence the full Environmental Impact Assessment in advance of an application for planning permission for a wind farm. At that time we are committed to undertaking a community consultation exercise so that we can fully understand the views of the local population and reflect those in the application.
