Bleak House
In December 2007 Harworth Power applied for planning permission to construct and operate a three turbine wind farm at the former Bleak House Surface Mining site between Heath Hayes and Burntwood. Cannock Chase District Council, as the relevant planning authority, will consult with local residents and statutory bodies before making a decision on whether planning permission should be granted.
The Bleak House Wind Farm project has progressed through a feasibility and design process for a number of years. Original plans for a five-turbine wind farm were scaled down after a public exhibition more than two years ago. The scheme was modified, with three turbines - capable of producing 6.0-6.9MW of renewable energy, sufficient to meet the needs of up to 3,400 homes - now planned.
A number of documents to support the application have been prepared and this can either be requested from Harworth Power, see below, or viewed at a number of locations in the local area, see Press Release on the right for further information.
Further information on the project including the Non-Technical Summary can be found using the links on the right. The Full Environmental Statement can be purchased from Harworth Power for £250 for a hard copy and £10 for a CD version, please e-mail enquire@harworthpower.com for further information.
Please return to this site in the future for updates on the scheme.
